You'll need about half an hour to do the cutting, sticking and fluffing up of the petals. In the world of paper flowers (yes, this is an actual thing!), this is a quick make for a satisfyingly big outcome.
A glue gun
Crepe paper - 1 colour for the petals +1 colour for the middle + leaf green
A bit of crappy cardboard
Ordinary things like paper scissors, a flowerpot or a bowl (you'll thank me later)
I made the 4 inch template because I wanted a huge flower
Don't worry too much if you tear a petal or two off. Honestly, you won't see it at all in the wild extravagance and beauty that is your flower.
Just tear off when you've decided you're done
This bit always reminds me of giraffes' eyelashes. I used black card for this flower. Yellow photocopier paper would make this a proper peony.
You could curl these lashes inwards maybe. Twirl 2 at a time on a pencil
Now you can fluff the petals madly. Your goal is peony-like petals or ballerina skirts. Fluff. Scrunch.
Check that it's the size of your head. That's always big enough
Decorate a present with your new bloom. I used double sided tape but you could always roll sellotape into a tube as we all did before d.s.t was invented
